The XTAR L4 PRO device is a fully compatible 4-channel smart charger for 1.5V Lithium-ion and 1.2V Nickel-metal hydride cells. Thanks to advanced electronics, the charger can charge AA and AAA size batteries. Controlled by an MCU system, the intelligent charging functions allow the selection of the appropriate charging current, according to the input power, which ultimately protects both the batteries and the charger from overheating and damage. The charging process regulates the voltage and current supplied to the batteries in three automatic stages (TC/CC/CV) to ensure optimal battery charging with minimal wear. The charger has a Ni-MH cell refresh mode for cells that lose some of their initial capacity and have reduced efficiency during use. Refreshing usually restores them to their maximum possible capacity.

The special design with a hollow casing better dissipates heat, which protects the charger and the cells being charged. Powered by a USB-C input, it allows connection to any 5V USB port (5V-2A recommended). The XTAR L4 PRO is a handy and functional charger for travel and home use. Included with the XTAR L4 PRO charger is a suitable USB-C cable. Compatible 1.5V Li-ION batteries are available here.

The user interface is an LCD display. It shows the charger s operating mode and real-time information about the cells being charged. On the display, you can read, for example, the status of the battery charging/discharging process or the cell type. Below the display is a button used to change the refresh modes for Ni-MH batteries.

Important: The charger does not charge 3.6V/3.7V Li-ION batteries.

The TC/CC/CV charging algorithm used in the charger is a Li-ION cell charging process that ensures good cell condition. It involves charging with the correct current and terminating charging at the right time. The TC/CC/CV charging stages can be divided into:

• TC stage: initial phase of control and reactivation of a cell whose voltage has dropped below 2.9V.

• CC stage: the cell is then charged with a constant current value from 50mA to 500mA (depending on the connected power source).

• CV stage: the charger then switches to topping up with decreasing current until the voltage reaches 4.2V on the cell. When the cell voltage reaches 4.2V, charging is complete, and the battery is fully charged.
