XTAR is a replaceable 1.5V AA cell, suitable for use in devices to replace any disposable AA cell.

Unlike traditional Ni-MH rechargeable cells (which are rated at 1.2V and are recommended by some device manufacturers for use with Ni-MH rechargeable cells due to too low a voltage), the use of this Xtar 1.5V cell is unrestricted and it can be used wherever disposable AA cells are used.

Thanks to the Li-ion cell and the voltage regulator, the voltage of the cell remains at 1.5V (the voltage of disposable AA cells gradually decreases from ~1.65V to ~0.9V as the cell is used). For this reason, when using the Xtar 1.5V AA cell, the devices will operate in the same mode (e.g. the flashlight will shine at the same brightness) until the cell is fully discharged.

When the cell is almost empty, the voltage is reduced to 1.1V, thus avoiding unexpected stoppage of the device s operation and, if the device in use has the option, triggering a low cell indication.

Also, thanks to the Li-ion technology, this cell has a high number of charging cycles, no memory effect (it is not affected by charging even when fully discharged), and is able to deliver a higher current than standard disposable or rechargeable Ni-MH cells.
